Juliane Werding

Juliane Werding was born in Essen, Germany in 1956. She started piano lessons at seven and wrote her first song, 'Das Mädchen am Klavier,' when she was sixteen. Her career began in earnest with the 1976 single 'Am Tag, als Conny Kramer starb,' which connected with listeners through its direct, emotional lyrics.

Her songs often addressed personal and social themes with a plainspoken clarity. Tracks like 'Mein Name ist Juliane' and '... und darum Herr Richter' carried that straightforward approach. In the early 1980s, her music sometimes drew criticism for being too outspoken or political, but she kept writing in her own voice.

Werding recorded a series of albums including 'Selbstbewußt' in 1978, 'Ruhelos' in 1980, and 'Tarot' in 1982. Later works like 'Sehnsucht' and 'Zeit für Engel' continued her output of German-language pop and folk-influenced songs.
