Julianne Sara

Julianne Sara came up in Rio de Janeiro, where she grew up listening to Brazilian artists like Caetano Veloso and Elis Regina. Her debut album arrived in 2014, anchored by the title track 'Puro Incenso,' a spare, introspective ballad that caught attention for its quiet intensity.

That song established a certain mood, less about spectacle, more about a kind of interior space. She's kept at it since, putting out records like 'Sobrevivente' in 2016, 'Natureza' in 2019, and 'Caminhos' in 2022. On stage, she often works with a small group that includes guitarist Lucas Santtana, drummer Gabriel Moura, and bassist Thiago da Serrinha.

Her music doesn't fit neatly into one style. It's folk at its base, but there's a pop sensibility and an experimental streak that keeps things from feeling too settled. She writes about ordinary things, love, loss, the small details of being human, without much fanfare.
