Junior e Marcel

Junior e Marcel were a Brazilian duo from Rio de Janeiro who made music together in the 1980s. Their song 'Enquanto a cidade dorme' came out in 1984 and became their most recognizable track. It's a slow, moody piece that gives the impression of late nights and quiet streets, which fit well with some of their other titles like 'Doce Loucura' and 'Ficar Ficando'.

They put out several albums through the middle of the decade, including 'Mais perto de você' in 1985 and 'Nosso amor é assim' the following year. The pair worked with Junior handling vocals and Marcel on guitar, creating a straightforward pop sound that leaned on melody and sentiment. Songs like 'Não Vivo Sem Você' and 'Feitos Um Pro Outro' stayed in that vein of romantic, sometimes wistful pop.

There were reports of personal difficulties between the two at times, though their music kept a consistent tone. They recorded into the early 1990s with 'Um novo começo' before fading from regular releases.
