Just Surrender formed in Omaha, Nebraska in the early 2000s, with Jason Lancaster and Tim Kasher meeting in high school. They released their debut EP 'Dropping a Line' in 2002, which led to a deal with Vagrant Records. Their 2003 album 'Friday Night Fever Dream' included the song 'Better To Leave' and found an audience in the emo scene of that period.
In 2005, Lancaster left the band, and Jonny Craig joined as vocalist. The group announced an indefinite hiatus in 2008. The original lineup reunited briefly in 2012 for a tour that drew strong responses from fans who remembered songs like 'Body Language And Bad Habits' and 'Carried Away'.
