JW

JW is an Italian band that formed around Saverio Principini on vocals and guitar, Gianluca Corona on piano and synths, and Marco Rovatti on bass and electronics. They put out their first album, 'The Space Between,' in 2012, and followed it with a self-titled album in 2015 that included the song 'Mò.'

That track, 'Mò,' became their most recognized piece. It's a ballad built on a traditional Italian folk tale, with Principini's vocals and Corona's piano work giving it a sparse, atmospheric feel. The band's sound tends to mix classical touches with electronic textures, but they've kept a fairly low profile outside of that song.

They released another album called 'Sinergy' in 2018. JW hasn't been a major commercial force, and their style has sometimes drawn criticism for being too unconventional, but they've kept working on their own terms without much drama or grand narrative.
