K-6 formed in São Paulo in 1996 with six members: Ricardo Guimarães on vocals, Marcus Vinicius on bass, Marco Mattoli on drums, Andre Mattoli and Rafael Vilardi on guitars, and João Paulo Silva on keyboards. They broke through in 2003 with their debut album 'Um Sonho Bom,' whose title track 'Só Um Sonho Bom' became a chart-topping hit in Brazil.
Their early pop-rock sound shifted over time, taking in electronic, alternative rock, and funk elements across five studio albums. After 'Um Sonho Bom' came 'Vento Novo' in 2006, 'Na Paz' in 2008, 'Do Outro Lado' in 2011, and 'Infinito' in 2016.
In 2004, the band faced a plagiarism accusation over their song 'Quem Não Quer Ser Feliz,' which led to a lengthy legal dispute. The members have since pursued separate musical paths, with Guimarães working on solo projects and Vinicius and Marco Mattoli forming a new band called Acústico Mattoli.
