K Octave came out of Los Angeles in the early 2010s, an alternative rock band built around vocalist Kyle Hayes. Their song 'Breakneck' got some attention, enough to give them a start. The group included Ethan James on guitar, Alex Walker on bass, and Jacob Carter on drums.
They put out four albums between 2012 and 2020: 'The Devil's in the Details,' 'Burned to the Ground,' 'Serpentine,' and 'The Shadow Within.' Hayes's lyrics sometimes touched on political topics, which brought them some pushback. He also talked openly about dealing with depression and anxiety, which made those conversations a bit more visible in music circles at the time.
