Archive material and source history
Kaamos formed in 1997 from members of the Finnish black metal band Barathrum. The lineup eventually settled with vocalist Tuomas Tuovinen, guitarist Janne Leinomäki, bassist Henri Jokinen, and drummer Jarno Pakkanen. They released their debut album 'Katharsis' in 2002, followed by 'Tuulen tytär' in 2004 and 'Ei ole ketään kelle puhua' in 2007.
Their 2011 album featured the track 'Gnosticon,' a twenty-minute piece that drew attention for its length and thematic focus. The song's lyrics and album title reference Gnosticism, exploring spiritual alienation and personal enlightenment. Other songs in their catalog include 'Black Revelation,' 'Blood Has Stained the Cross,' and 'Cries Of The Damned.'
While their music incorporated elements beyond straightforward metal, Kaamos maintained a presence in the Finnish scene. Their work attracted both appreciation and debate, particularly around the ambitious scope of material like 'Gnosticon.'
