Kadabra was a Brazilian hard rock band that formed in the early 1990s. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1992, followed by 'Back Home' in 1994. The title track from that second album became their most recognizable song, built around a yearning melody and heavy guitar work.
Their lineup included vocalist Andre Matos, guitarists Kiko Loureiro and Hugo Mariutti, bassist Epaminondas Vasconcellos, and drummer Ricardo Confessori. Matos left the band in 1995 to pursue solo work, which changed their sound. Other songs from their catalog include 'Chosen Few,' 'Death Penalty,' and 'Rite of Disorder.'
In 2008, there were some accusations of plagiarism regarding 'Back Home,' but those were eventually dismissed. The band's music blended hard rock and heavy metal with progressive touches, anchored by Matos's vocals and Loureiro's guitar playing before both moved on to other projects.
