Maar dat runmoer viel plots´ling stil;
Zo zinloos lijkt nu elke strijd, elk geschil.
Is het maar een droom,
komt er ooit een tijd,
dat geen kleur of taal
ons nog langer scheidt?
Is de hoop vergeefs,
of bloeien er dan straks,
in een zee van kleur,
duizend bloemen op de as.
Maar als al gauw de bloemen zijn verwelkt
en door de wind verspreid
en dan ook de muren tussen ons
weer hoog opgetrokken zijn,
duurt ´t dan lang totdat de haat,
weer met bloed op de wand geschreven staat?
Is het maar een droom,

dat geen kleur of taal
ons nog langer scheidt?
