Kaïn formed in Saint-Tite, Quebec in 1995 with Yves Déziel on vocals and guitar, Patrick Lemieux on guitar and vocals, and Éric Maheu on bass. Their debut album "Entre ciel et terre" came out in 1999. The band's 2003 album "Le temps des retrouvailles" won a Juno Award for Francophone Album of the Year.
Their song "Adam & Eve" from 2003 drew some attention for its religious imagery, but it became one of their most recognizable tracks. Other songs like "Embarque Ma Belle" and "Fausse Misère" show their mix of folk, rock, and Celtic elements with straightforward storytelling.
Kaïn released their ninth studio album "Renaissance" in 2021. The current lineup includes Sylvain Côté on drums and Pierre Fortin on keyboards alongside the founding members.
