Kaipa formed in Sweden in 1973, with vocalist Hans Lundin and guitarist Roine Stolt joining the following year. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1975, mixing symphonic and hard rock elements. They followed it with records like 'Inget nytt under solen' in 1976 and 'Solo' in 1978.
Their music often dealt with philosophical themes, heard in songs like 'World Of The Void' and 'A Complex Work Of Art'. The band's lineup shifted over time, with keyboardist Ingemar Bergman and bassist Ingvar Johansson among those who played with them. They worked with outside musicians too, including guitarist Steve Hackett.
Kaipa kept recording through different periods, putting out albums such as 'Mindrevolution' in 2002 and 'Urskog' in 2017. Their sound remained rooted in progressive rock's detailed arrangements. They released 'Dare' in 2020.
