Kal Carson formed in Los Angeles around 2010 with frontman Kal Carson, guitarist Taylor Reed, bassist Justin Bell, and drummer Chris Lee. Their early single "Hey Baby" got some radio play in 2012, which helped them find an audience. The band's second album, "Anthem," included tracks like "Gone" and "Save Me."
In 2014, there were some accusations about borrowing from another artist's work, which the band denied. A couple years later, Kal Carson talked publicly about dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues. The lineup shifted over time, with Reed leaving in 2015 and Bell departing in 2018.
They kept recording and touring, putting out songs like "Reach" and "What I Like About You." A later album called "Redemption" touched on some of those personal struggles. The music stayed in that pop-punk lane, with straightforward melodies and lyrics that connected with their listeners.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
