Kalan Dos Teclados is a Brazilian duo made up of brothers Marcos and Bruno Cavalcante. They came out of São Paulo in the early 2000s with a sound that pulls from Brazilian funk and baile music, mixed with some electropop and hip-hop. Their debut album was called 'Viado No Colchão,' which they put out independently in 2003.
The title track from that album, 'Viado No Colchão,' caused a lot of noise when it came out. The duo's explicit lyrics about queer sexuality drew strong reactions from conservative groups and parts of the Brazilian music industry. Their concerts sometimes faced protests.
The brothers kept making music that dealt with sexual identity and pushed against social norms, though they never really broke into the mainstream.
