Kali Uchis

Kali Uchis was born Karly Marina Loaiza, with Colombian and Afro-Colombian roots that shaped her early musical sensibilities. Her father's love of salsa introduced her to Latin rhythms, which would later surface in her own work alongside R&B, soul, and electronic influences. She started writing and recording her own songs as a young woman, developing what would become her distinctive approach.

Her 2014 single "Por Vida" brought wider attention, leading to her debut album "Isolation" the following year. That record featured songs like "Only Girl" and "Rush," showing her range across soul, R&B, jazz, and pop. She has worked with other artists including Tyler, The Creator, as heard on "After The Storm," and has released projects like "Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios)" in 2020 and the "Red Moon in Venus" EP in 2023.

Her music often blends languages and styles, as seen in tracks such as "te pongo mal(prendelo)" with Jowell y Randy and "la luna enamorada." She has been open about mental health struggles and has addressed social issues in her public statements, which has sometimes sparked debate alongside her musical output.
