Editor's note

Kalomoira, from New York clubs to Eurovision

A Greek-American singer who found fame after placing third at Eurovision with 'Secret Combination'.

If you're new to her, start with 'Secret Combination', it's the Eurovision song that put her on the map. 'Please Don't Break My Heart' gives you a sense of her pop side with that Fatman Scoop feature.

She's one of those artists who bridges a few worlds, born in New York, raised partly in Greece, and she got a real boost from Eurovision. 'Secret Combination' was her big moment in 2008, and later that year she teamed up with Fatman Scoop on 'Please Don't Break My Heart,' which charted across Europe. It's a sound that's pop but with a clear Greek touch, and it's stuck around.

She started singing in Greek nightclubs after moving there as a teenager, then got early recognition on the talent show 'Fame Story 2' in 2003. Eurovision in 2008 with 'Secret Combination' was the break that got her noticed outside Greece, and she followed it with collaborations like the Fatman Scoop track. She's also done some acting in Greek films and TV.
