Kamaleónica formed in 2012 with five members: Alba Molina Romero on vocals, Jesús Gómez on guitar, Cristina Manresa on bass, Sergio González on keyboards, and Tomàs Pellicer on drums. Their debut album 'Te Extraño' came out in 2014, and the title track became a radio staple in Spain, a ballad about longing with Molina Romero's vocals at the center.
In 2016, guitarist Jesús Gómez was arrested for drug possession, which created some turbulence for the band. Two years later, in 2018, lead singer Alba Molina Romero made public comments about the Spanish monarchy that stirred debate.
The lineup shifted over time. Molina Romero and Gómez stayed, but Manresa and González left. They were replaced by Juan Fernández, who is Molina Romero's brother, on bass and Sergio García on keyboards. The band's sound has touched on flamenco, rock, pop, and some electronic elements across their records.
