A Rio de Janeiro band that's been mixing Brazilian styles since 2005.
For a good sense of their sound, try "Mas Que Linda Estás" or "Tudo Uma Questão de." first. They're both solid examples of what they do.
Kamau's music pulls from various Brazilian traditions, but they've never sounded like a museum piece. Songs like "Tudo Uma Questão de." have that lived-in feel, where the rhythms feel natural rather than studied. They've also worked with artists like Chico Buarque and Hermeto Pascoal, which tells you something about where they sit in that world.
They formed in Rio around 2005 and put out their debut album "Equilíbrio." After percussionist André Moraes died in 2015, they kept going, releasing "Eldorado" in 2018.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
