Kaninez

Kaninez came together in Los Angeles, mixing hip-hop, funk, and Latin rhythms into something that felt like its own thing. Their first single "Panteras Negras" arrived in 2004, a track that took its name from the Black Panther Party and immediately put them in conversations about politics and music. They followed it with another song called "Voto Nulo" a few years later.

Their lyrics often dealt with social issues, which sometimes drew criticism but also connected with listeners who heard their own frustrations in the music.

They had a few members who helped shape that sound, Mateo Lewis on vocals, Rafael Cruz on guitar, Ramiro Valdez on percussion, and Daniella Garcia on bass. Together they built grooves that felt both urgent and danceable, a balance that kept people coming back.

In 2007 they put out an album called "Revolución," which continued in the same vein as their earlier work. It didn't try to reinvent what they were doing, just deepened it.
