Archive material and source history

Kannon was an Italian ensemble that formed in the mid-1970s. Their song "Amiga Mia" became widely known, appearing on their self-titled debut album in 1975. The group included vocalist Antonella Ruggiero, composer and pianist Maurizio Fabrizio, keyboardist Gianni Nocenzi, bassist Ellade Bandini, and drummer Walter Calloni.

They released several albums through the late 1970s and early 1980s, including "Un Brutto Affare" in 1976 and "Innocenti Evasioni" in 1978. Their work sometimes incorporated elements beyond their initial sound, with 1981's "Nuvole" touching on jazz and classical influences. Other songs in their catalog include "Esesperado," "Ada," and "American Dream."

At one point, there were accusations that the melody for "Amiga Mia" had been plagiarized, which the band denied. They put out a compilation called "Cartolina" in 1980. The group's activity appears to have tapered off after the early 1980s.
