Archive material and source history
Kapanga formed in Quilmes, Buenos Aires in 1995. The band includes vocalist Martín "Mono" Fabio, guitarist Mariano "Palomeque" Domínguez, drummer Marcelo "Balde" Spósito, bassist Guillermo "Memo" Berestein, and saxophonist Claudio "Michi" Peralta, who joined in 2018. They've released eight studio albums, starting with their self-titled debut in 1998 and continuing through 2020's "Todoterreno 15."
Their song "Bisabuelo," released in 2002, became a hit in Argentina. Other tracks like "Claro de Luna," "Mesa 4," and "Agujita de Oro" show their range. In 2005, they apologized after their song "El Mono Relojero" drew criticism from women's rights activists.
Early on, some in Argentina's rock scene viewed their mix of styles as unconventional. They kept playing their own way, and their shows developed a reputation for energy.
