Paisible nuit devint cauchemar;
Envahisseurs sortis de nulle part.
Soudain j’entends crier ma mère
Les priant d’épargner mon père!
Par cette terrible nuit d’été,
Tout mon village fut massacré.
Quelques garçons furent épargnés…
J’avais neuf ans; ils m’ont enlevé!
Le jour se lève et je panique…
Tous entassés et prisonniers.
Le jour se lève sur cette Afrique;
Enfants-soldats; leur but premier.
Ils veulent maintenant nous initier;
Les yeux bandés, fusil au poing,
Ils nous menacent, il faut tirer…
Sinon pour nous ça sera la fin!
Alors j’ai finalement tiré
Sans savoir qui je venais de tuer.
Mais rapidement j’ai bien compris
Que c’était mon meilleur ami!
Dès lors une seule chose m’importait,
Au risque d’y perdre la vie,
La nuit tombé je m’enfuirais;
Plutôt mourir que vivre ici.
Le jour se lève et je panique…
Je cours toujours depuis trois jours.
Le jour se lève sur cette Afrique;
Enfin quelqu’un me porte secours.
J’ai présentement vingt et un ans,
J’ai survécut bien heureusement.
Mais des millions d’enfants-soldats
N’ont pas cette chance et meurent là bas!
