Karpates Omos

Karpates Omos formed in Cluj-Napoca, Romania in 2007. The band's name comes from an ancient Greek phrase meaning 'fruit of the forest,' and their music draws heavily from the Carpathian Mountains that surround their hometown. Their sound mixes black metal with atmospheric folk elements, creating long, immersive tracks that often feel like journeys through ancient landscapes.

Their 2014 album 'As I Fade Away Once With My Brave Forest' features the title track that became something of a signature piece for them. Other songs like 'Burning Fields,' 'Cold Landscapes Forgotten,' and 'Spirit Of The Ancient Cults' follow similar themes of nature, memory, and what feels like a kind of pagan melancholy. The lineup has stayed consistent with Dan Andrei Nechita on vocals and guitar, Marian Rusu on bass, and Ovidiu Popa on drums.

They've released several albums including their self-titled debut in 2008, 'Forests Grow Eternal' in 2011, and 'Perpetuum Immutabile' in 2018. Their music tends toward the atmospheric and expansive rather than the aggressive end of black metal, with tracks that build slowly and create specific moods rather than racing through riffs.
