Kartel De Las Calles

Kartel De Las Calles formed in Los Angeles in the late 1990s, with Omar Cruz, Freddy Ramos, and Sergio Rodriguez coming together as rappers. Their debut album '187 Hermandad' came out in 2000, taking its title from one of their songs. They followed it with albums like 'Barrio Fino' in 2003 and 'Pa'l Mundo' in 2006.

Their music often dealt with street life and social issues, which sometimes drew criticism. Tracks like 'Crimen Organizado' and 'Alerta Roja' reflected this direct approach. They worked under the names Mr. Criminal, Mr. Shadow, and Mr. Lil One respectively.

While their lyrics could be raw, they maintained a focus on their neighborhood's perspective. Songs such as 'Amor Cholero' and 'Adios Amor' showed different sides of their writing. They built a following in West Coast hip-hop circles through this consistency.
