They worked in a space between gothic rock and heavier sounds, with songs like '666' and 'Bastard' appearing in their catalog. Their 1987 album 'Oddech Wymarłych Miast' (The Breath of Extinct Cities) is often mentioned as a significant Polish rock record.
Their lyrics and imagery sometimes drew criticism from conservative groups. The band kept making music through the late '80s and early '90s, releasing albums like 'Kat & Roman Kostrzewski' in 1990 and 'Acoustic' in 1992. Other songs from that period include 'Delirium Tremens' and 'Bez Pamięci'.
Kat stopped working as a band in 2004. Their recordings from the '80s and early '90s still turn up in discussions of Polish rock from that era.
