Kat DeLuna grew up in the Bronx with Dominican roots, which shaped her early exposure to salsa, merengue, and hip-hop. She signed with Epic Records in 2007 and released her debut album '9 Lives' that same year, which included songs like 'Am I Dreaming' and 'Party O'clock.' Her second album, 'Inside Out,' came out in 2008.
Her single 'Whine Up' from that album, featuring Elephant Man, became a hit internationally. She's also worked with other artists on tracks like 'Blaze It Up' with Busta Rhymes and 'What A Night' with Jeremih. Later albums include 'Unstoppable' in 2010 and 'Viva Out Loud' in 2012.
In 2008, there were copyright infringement allegations related to samples in 'Whine Up,' but she kept making music afterward. Her songs often mix Latin rhythms with pop elements, as heard in tracks such as 'Muevete Muevete' and 'No Me Olvides.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
