Katarinas formed in São Paulo around 2008 when Mariana Carvalho and Thiago Arrais met at a music festival. They were joined by Fernanda Telles and Rafael Barone in 2010, making a quartet. Their debut EP came out in 2012, simply called 'Katarinas,' and it found some attention in Brazil's indie rock circles.
In 2017, they released the album 'Me Levar,' which included the song of the same name. That track became their most widely heard, picking up streams internationally. The album showed them working with more electronic textures than before. They've also put out music like the 2019 EP 'Horizonte' and the 2021 album 'Transcendence.'
Their songs include 'Tá Demais,' 'Na Minha,' and 'Só Falta Eu Te Beijar.' They've played shows in Brazil, Europe, and the United States. The band has faced some public disputes, including a plagiarism accusation in 2015 that was later dismissed, and they've talked about the difficulties of touring without major label support.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
