Katarse

Katarse formed in 2006 with four Brazilian musicians: vocalist Leo Kret, bassist Fabiano Leão, guitarist Pedro Cantisani, and drummer Sidney Silva. Their debut album 'Acorda!' came out in 2008, with the title track becoming an anthem against political apathy. The band's songs often address social injustice and inequality, with tracks like 'Bluesinho Que Era Pra Ser Um Jazz Mas Não Foi, Mesmo Porque, Era Pra Você e Acabou Não Sendo' and 'Você já sabe' reflecting their political focus.

After their debut, Katarse released several more albums including 'Pra Cego Ver' in 2011, 'Pé Na Rua' in 2014, 'Guerreiro' in 2017, and 'Ainda É Tempo' in 2020. Their music maintains an energetic, raw sound that matches their direct lyrical approach to topics like corruption and police brutality. Songs such as 'Espelho' and 'O show de Truman' continue this tradition of protest music.

Katarse's outspoken lyrics have drawn criticism from some who see them as politically polarizing, but the band has continued performing and recording with the same lineup. Their work includes songs like 'Araçá', 'Valeu', and 'Contando dias contados' that maintain their characteristic blend of musical energy and social commentary.
