Katarzyna Łaska was born in Warsaw in 1946 to musician parents. She studied at the Frederyk Chopin University of Music, drawing from classical and jazz influences. In the late 1960s, she joined the band Czerwone Gitary before releasing her first solo album, 'Co Jest Grane Na Wojnie?', in 1971.
Her song 'Mam Tę Moc' came out in 1973. Its lyrics about women's strength connected with listeners in Poland during the communist era, when her music sometimes faced official scrutiny. She kept writing and performing through that period.
Łaska has made more than twenty studio albums, working with musicians like Wojciech Mlynarski and Zbigniew Wodecki. Guitarist Andrzej Rybiński, drummer Janusz Kruk, and bassist Andrzej Igras have played in her bands over time.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
