Kativoc formed in Barcelona in the late 1990s with vocalist Olga Bas, guitarist Joan Ferré, bassist Carles Riera, and drummer Nani Castañeda. Their debut single 'Al Clímax' got attention for its mix of experimental electronica, distorted guitars, and Bas's Catalan vocals, which gave their sound a raw, ethereal edge.
They put out albums like 'The Artificial Sea' in 2001, 'The Paternity Test' in 2004, and 'The Last Dance' in 2008, folding in bits of folk and classical music along the way. The band went on hiatus in 2011 but came back in 2017 to play some shows and release 'The Shadows of the Future.'
