Kawabata Kaname is an alternative rock band from Tokyo that formed in the late 2000s. The group is fronted by singer-songwriter Kaname Kawabata, with Kensuke Takemura on guitar, Kento Moriya on bass, and Takahiro Matsunaga on drums. They built a following through live performances before their sound found wider recognition.
In 2011, the band released the single "Breakthrough," which helped bring them international attention. Their debut album, "Ashes to Embers," came out the following year. They've since put out several other records, including "The Fragile Balance" in 2014, "Echoes from the Void" in 2016, and "Beyond the Veil" in 2018.
In 2015, Kawabata Kaname faced plagiarism accusations regarding similarities between one of their songs and another artist's work. The band denied the allegations, and the matter was eventually resolved. Their music has drawn comparisons to acts like Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, and Muse.
