Kawai Naoko

Kawai Naoko began releasing music in the 1980s. Her debut album 'Dreaming of You' came out in 1987. The following year she recorded 'Half Moon Serenade,' which became her most recognizable song.

Her work from that period often featured what some listeners described as ethereal vocals and melancholic lyrics. She worked with musicians like guitarist Takeshi Itoh and bassist Masayuki Sakamoto, and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto contributed to her 1989 album 'Endless Night.'

In the early 1990s, she faced plagiarism allegations that she denied. She continued releasing albums through the mid-1990s, including 'Tears of Destiny' in 1990 and 'Spirit of the Wind' in 1992.
