Kawana is a Brazilian band that formed around Alexia Von Teese, who writes and sings, and her brother Arthur von Teese on guitar. Rafael Farah plays bass and Vinícius Arcanjo is the drummer. They put out their first EP, called 'Amitriptilina,' in 2018.
Their song 'Amitriptilina' got some attention for how it talked about mental health. Alexia has been open about her own experiences with depression and anxiety, and that directness in the lyrics connected with listeners. Some people criticized the band for how they handled the subject, but they kept writing about it anyway.
Later on they released an album titled 'Desastre Natural' in 2021 and had songs like 'Nova Pele' and 'Flores e Bombons.' They were working on another EP called 'Medusa' for 2023.
