Kawarû formed in the late 1990s with Felipe Cordeiro on vocals, Rômulo Simões on guitar, Júlio Andrade on bass, and Rafael Martins on drums. Their music draws from Amazonian rhythms and rock, though some listeners have questioned how deeply those influences run.
In 2004 they released the album 'Elefante,' whose title track became their most recognized song. The track is a slow, atmospheric ballad built around Cordeiro's vocals and Simões's guitar lines.
Their later albums include 'Corações em Chamas' in 2006, 'Aruanda' in 2009, and 'Terra' in 2015. They've kept recording into the 2010s, putting out 'Raízes' in 2019.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
