Kawashima Eigo

Kawashima Eigo came up in Obihiro, Hokkaido, and was drawn to the work of Japanese singer-songwriters like Miyuki Nakajima and Yosui Inoue. He eventually made his way to Tokyo, where he played small venues and built a following before things clicked in 1985 with the single 'Sake To Namida To Otoko To Onna.' That song's straightforward, emotional lyrics about drinking, tears, and relationships connected with people and became his first real hit.
