Ken Laszlo was born György László in Budapest in 1958. He started singing in local bands as a teenager, drawn to soul and funk. In 1984, he released his self-titled debut album, which included the track "Hey Hey Guy." That song became a hit in several European countries, including Germany, Italy, and Spain.
His music from that period, like "Tonight" and "Don't Cry," had a straightforward Europop energy. He kept recording through the late 1980s, putting out albums such as "Dance with Me" and "Welcome to the Club." By the late 1990s, he had stepped away from music to focus on other things.
Some of his songs still turn up at retro dance nights. "Hey Hey Guy" is the one most people remember.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
