Kenna

Kenna is a band from Virginia led by singer-songwriter Keenan Tracey. Their sound pulls from ambient, electronica, and soul, with Tracey's vocals floating over arrangements by bassist Mark Lagos, drummer Chris Martin, and guitarist Noah Pettigrew. They've put out four albums since 2003, starting with 'New Heart for Old' and most recently 'Breach' in 2019.

Their track 'Out of Control' became something of a calling card, but other songs like 'Baptized in Blacklight' and 'Clutch' with Shea Seger show their range. The 2011 album 'Land 2 Land' drew some mixed reactions for moving away from their earlier ambient leanings, but they kept working and returned with 'Breach' eight years later.

Their lyrics often touch on identity and spirituality, and they've worked with organizations on environmental and social justice issues. There's no big dramatic arc here, just a band that makes thoughtful, layered music and sticks with it.
