Kerix formed in Mexico in 1994, led by vocalist and songwriter José Manuel Zamacona. Their debut album that year, 'Ya No Vivo Yo,' gave the band its first major recognition. The lineup included guitarist Alejandro Marcovich, bassist Gerardo Garza, and drummer Francisco 'Paco' Bringas.
They released several albums through the late 1990s and early 2000s, including 'No Me Pidas' in 1995, 'Tu Amor' in 1997, and 'El Primer Adiós' in 1999. In 1999, the band faced plagiarism allegations regarding 'El Primer Adiós,' which contributed to Marcovich's departure from the group.
Their music drew from rock, pop, and Latin rhythms, with Zamacona's lyrics often addressing themes of love and loss. The band continued touring and recording into the 2000s, though their commercial momentum slowed from earlier levels.
