Kevin Fowler grew up in Lufkin, Texas, and started writing songs influenced by George Strait and Hank Williams Jr. His first album, "Barstool Stories," came out in 1997 and got some attention around Texas.
In 2001, his album "Beer, Bait & Ammo" had the track "Hell Yeah, I Like Beer," which became a straightforward country hit. That song and others like "100% Texan" and "Long Line Of Losers" helped him build a following with people who liked his uncomplicated, beer-and-good-times approach.
He's put out records fairly steadily since then, including "High on the Hog" in 2004 and "East Texas Saturday Night" in 2019. Some of his work has featured other artists like Willie Nelson and Radney Foster.
Fowler's music stays pretty close to its Texas country roots, with songs about drinking, small-town life, and having a good time. It's the kind of stuff that works well in a bar or at a tailgate.
