Khalfani do Paredão

Khalfani do Paredão formed in 2005 in Rio de Janeiro's Complexo do Alemão, with Khalfani Júnior on vocals, Marcelly do Paredão on vocals, Adriano do Paredão on percussion, and Thiago de Souza on guitar. They worked in the funk carioca style that was emerging from Rio's favelas at the time.

Their debut album 'Voltei Pra Putaria' came out in 2008 and included the title track that became one of their signature songs. They followed it with albums like 'O Baile Funk Que o Brasil Gosta' in 2009 and 'Só as Brabas' in 2010. Other tracks like 'As Novinhas Vão Descer' and 'Bate Com Vontade' became staples in their live sets.

Their lyrics often dealt with life in the favelas, and this drew criticism from some groups who found their content provocative. Police sometimes attempted to shut down their concerts, though they continued performing. They kept recording through the early 2010s with albums like 'De Volta ao Mundo' in 2012.
