Khamenurd formed in the early 2000s with vocalist and guitarist Kaelum Xerath, drummer Zenith Auroth, and bassist Erebos Vykor. They took their name from an ancient Babylonian deity of the underworld, which fit the dark tone of their music.
Their debut album 'Echoes of the Abyss' came out in 2006 and included the track 'Killing Tendency.' That song became something of an anthem for certain metal listeners, with its furious guitars and Xerath's strained vocal delivery.
They've put out five albums since then, moving through different heavy styles from death metal to industrial sounds. The band has kept at it without much fuss about their place in the genre.
