Kid Safari formed in London in 2006 with Emily Barker on vocals and guitar, Danny Watson on bass, and Gavin Slater on drums. Their debut album 'The Appetizer' came out in 2008, and its single 'Caroline Cool' got some attention. They put out two more albums, 'The Jonestown Demos' in 2010 and 'Land of the Shadows' in 2012.
Some people talked about the lyrics in 'Caroline Cool' at the time. The band left their label in 2011 but kept recording. Barker's voice had a particular quality that worked with their guitar sound.
