Kid With Man Head

Kid With Man Head formed in 2016 with Max Savage on vocals and guitar, Emma Lizzy on bass and vocals, and Luke Green on drums. Their name came from a surrealist painting, which gives you some idea of where they were coming from. Their first album, 'Beautiful' from 2018, had that title track and set up their sound, a mix of psychedelic rock with some folk and electronic textures, heavy on the ethereal vocals and distorted guitars.

They followed that with 'The Void' in 2020, which went darker and more introspective, and then 'The Man Who Became the World' in 2022. Songs like 'Blue Groove' and 'Disaster My Way' show their range, from hypnotic rhythms to more challenging lyrical territory. Their music never fit neatly into one category, and that made it hard for some listeners to get a handle on them.

They got critical attention but also faced pushback for being too experimental or for lyrics that touched on uncomfortable subjects. The usual industry pressures and financial stuff didn't help. What you hear in their records is a band working through their own ideas without much concern for whether it was going to be an easy sell.
