Kilika Santa formed in Santiago, Chile in the late 1990s, led by vocalist Cristián "Kilika" Moreno. They released their first album "Kilkilin" in 2001, followed by three more studio records over the next decade. The band's lineup included Moreno on vocals and guitar, Mauricio "Toro" Vergara on bass, Rodrigo "Rorro" Tobar on drums, and Cristóbal "Chalo" González on guitar.
In 2002, the band put out "La Gran Tribulación," a single that became their most recognizable track. Other songs like "El Jugador," "Espantapájaros," and "Merkel" also appear among their most played recordings. Their music drew from rock and folk traditions, with lyrics that sometimes addressed social and political themes.
Kilika Santa's unconventional approach and Moreno's distinctive vocals gave them a particular presence in the Chilean music landscape during the 2000s. They released their final studio album "Tribu" in 2011.
