KING - Duplo Impacto formed in São Paulo in the late 1980s around guitarist Henrique "Pinguim" Ruas and vocalist/bassist Paulo "Pam" Moraes. Their music drew from heavy metal, punk, and progressive rock, creating something that felt unconventional for Brazilian rock at the time. Their debut album, "Neurose," came out in 1990, with the title track becoming their most recognized song.
Their lyrics often dealt with mental anguish and alienation, which some found provocative. The band's sound evolved over time, incorporating industrial and electronic elements on later albums like "Q.E.D." (1999) and "Um Gosto de Sangue" (2004). Other songs in their catalog include "Deus Usa Os Loucos" and "Duro Aprendizado."
Lineup changes were common, with Ruas remaining a constant presence. Other members included drummer Álvaro "Tulum" Ribeiro and guitarist Rodrigo "Digão" Brandão. They released several albums through the 1990s, including "O Reino das Águas Claras" in 1993 and "Suicídio Consciente" in 1996.
