King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard formed in Melbourne in 2010 with Stu Mackenzie, Michael Cavanagh, Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, and Lucas Skinner. Their first album, '12 Bar Bruise,' came out in 2012. They've put out a lot of music since then, including the 2016 album 'Nonagon Infinity' and the 2017 album 'Murder of the Universe.'
They're known for moving between different styles, from psychedelic rock to jazz and folk. Songs like 'Work This Time' and 'The Dripping Tap' show their range. The band has worked with other artists like Mild High Club and Tropical Fuck Storm.
Some listeners find their approach scattered, but they've kept making music at a steady pace. They've released around twenty studio albums in a little over ten years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
