King Tuff

King Tuff is the project of Kyle Thomas, who started putting out music under that name in the mid-2000s. His self-titled debut came out in 2008, and songs like 'Sun Medallion' and 'Alone & Stoned' gave a sense of his approach: garage rock with a psychedelic lean, recorded with plenty of raw energy.

He followed that with albums like 'Black Moon Spell' in 2014 and 'The Other' in 2018, which kept working in that vein. The music often touches on occult or supernatural themes, but stays grounded in guitar-driven rock. Thomas has played with other musicians live and in the studio, including bassist Patrick Hynes, though he handles most of the writing and recording himself.

That stirred up discussion for a while, but he kept making records. His work doesn't really fit into one scene, it's just Kyle Thomas doing his thing, recording fuzzy, melodic rock songs when he feels like it.
