Kitchen Knife Conspiracy

Kitchen Knife Conspiracy formed in 1996 when James Lycett and Ashley Wighton met at a London music event. They built a sound around industrial and electronic elements, with Lycett handling vocals and lyrics while Wighton worked on guitar and production. The lineup eventually included drummer Jonathan Powell and bassist Richard Pocock.

Their 2004 album "Invasion X" became a focal point for both their musical approach and the reactions it provoked. Songs like "Porn II Kill" and "Coffin Birth" delivered abrasive soundscapes with confrontational lyrics that examined violence and social unrest. This material drew criticism from some quarters while finding an audience in others.

They continued releasing albums including "The Insurrection Protocol" in 2006 and "Lost in Oblivion" in 2009. Their work occasionally involved collaborations, like those with industrial musician Chris Connelly and poet Vanessa Sinclair. Tracks such as "Betrayed" and "Crushed To Death" maintained their preference for unsettling themes and experimental textures.
