Kleberiano formed in Brazil in the early 2000s, with Kleber on vocals and guitar, Vinicius on bass, and Gustavo on drums. Their breakout single "MacPorra" came out in 2003 and became a national hit. The song's blunt lyrics about police brutality drew some official backlash, but it stuck as an anthem.
They put out albums like Tudo Bem in 2005 and A Firma in 2007, mixing samba, rock, and reggae into an energetic sound. Other songs like "Comedor de Cu" and "Fui Fazer Exame De Próstata" kept their style direct and grounded in everyday Brazilian life.
In 2012, bassist Vinicius died, which was a hard blow for the band. They kept going, releasing Sambassim in 2010 and a live album from Rock in Rio in 2013. Their music stayed rooted in social themes without losing its rough, catchy feel.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
