The Australian electronic duo formed by Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen after their time in Pendulum.
For the full Knife Party experience, start with 'Bonfire' and 'Internet Friends.' They capture that mix of heavy bass and playful attitude that defined their early sound.
Knife Party arrived in 2011 with a sound that felt like a sharp left turn from Pendulum's rock-tinged drum and bass. Their first EP '100% No Modern Talking' included 'Internet Friends,' which featured Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips and quickly became a conversation piece in electronic circles. Tracks like 'Bonfire' and 'Centipede' cemented their reputation for heavy, bass-driven dubstep and electro house that never took itself too seriously.
The duo formed in 2011 and released their debut EP that same year. They followed with EPs like 'Rage Valley' in 2012 and 'Abandon Ship' in 2014, then navigated some label issues with Warner Bros. Records around 2016 before continuing independently. Their 2019 EP 'Lost Souls' showed they were still making music on their own terms.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
